Brickwork Finance Academy (BFA) www.bfa-india.org had organized convocation for the graduating class of 2013, at their campus on Bannerghatta Road, Bengaluru today. The convocation was arranged for the first batch of 33 students. The students received Completion Certificates from Shri R K Dubey, Chairman & Managing Director, Canara Bank. Participation Certificates were distributed by Dr. M Govinda Rao, Member, 14th Finance Commission. Vivek Kulkarni, President, BFA, congratulated all the students for attending a rigorous program spread over nine months and taking a six hour comprehensive examination in finance.
The same day, 36 students have joined as Class of 2014. Welcoming the students, Vivek Kulkarni, President of BFA, said, “BFA’s Post Graduate Program in Finance is meant for those aspiring for a career in Credit, Investment and Risk Management areas of finance. Most business schools don’t focus only on finance. Banking and Financial Analyst focus makes the courses highly relevant and graduates more employable in the BFSI sector.”
Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. Govind Rao, Member 14th Finance Commission, said, “Banking and Financial Analyst with its unique program in finance could become a global leader in finance education. Enabling a better understanding in this area contributes to healthy development of financial markets and improves the regulatory regime. By providing world class and practical education in finance, Banking and Financial Analyst is poised to offer the country much needed employable resources”.
The Presidential address was given by Shri R K Dubey, Chairman & Managing Director, Canara Bank, Bengaluru. Shri Dubey stated that the Banking and Financial Analyst program was very well designed. He said “Highly qualified Professors and Experts would make the program one of great value to people interested in pursuing a career in the BFSI sector at large. I wish Banking and Financial Analyst all the very best in making this iconic program a great success.”
Prof. K R S Murthy, a noted Academician, Mentor and Advisor of Banking and Financial Analyst said, “Finance is no longer just a support function in a company. With globalization, various uncertainties and risks associated with business have rendered what earlier was mainly a support function into a complex function, intricately linked to business risks and the very control of the company, increasingly integrated into strategic decision making. Finance has to enable management to understand the short and long-term implications of all available alternatives for
sustainable growth with sound value systems. BFA’s PGP focuses on equipping students with the required knowledge, skills, attitudes and discipline so that they can become a core part of their organizations.”
Proposing a vote of thanks, Priya Angle, Associate Professor at Brickwork Finance Academy, stressed the need for professionals to understand that “Success comes not to those who wait, but to those who grow, those who continue to learn and overcome challenges”. She urged the students to make the best use of the opportunity provided by the PGP.
The second batch of 36 participants has an impressive profile. Over 50 percent of the students already have an MBA from other B-Schools, 8 % of the class comprises of CA, another 8% American CFA’s and 24% percent of them are Engineers. The program has participation from a number of IT and Finance Professionals. A majority of the participants are looking forward to capitalize on the opportunity for growth in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector, in both domestic and international markets.
Brickwork Finance Academy is a Bengaluru based non-profit organization, committed to promote Financial Literacy and impart practical knowledge in the field of finance.
BFA’s PGP is meant for working people aspiring for a career in finance. It is spread over nine months with classes being held on Saturdays. The program comprises of four modules: Basics of Financial Analysis, Investment Management, Credit Management and Risk Management. In addition to classroom sessions, participants are expected to undertake a project work in finance to enhance their knowledge. BFA’s faculty pool comprises of industry experts, renowned academicians, faculty of international repute and successful leaders in the field of finance.
